HOW TO START SHOPPING FOR A RECORD DEAL
Here's some rules I always tell people to follow when shoppin' their music Have a few people I can turn you on to,
I always try to help people and there is no charge, just don't forget me. Unfortunately Miranda at Mirand Promotions
International is no longer handling NGR or any bands due to health related issues please contact Keithy Beadford Promotions
@ keith@keithbradfordpromotions.com for further information.
RECORD BUSINESS and getting "A DEAL"
The advice I always give about shopping #1. Trust
NO ONE 2. If they ask you for cash 9 out of 10 it's a scam unless it's a distribution / recording deal then you will be
required to put up a % of the cash or put it in an escrow account. 3. Use a music attorney or entertainment attorney to
shop your music, or the Artist or group.
4. If you are drawing huge crowds every night, your music is burnin' the
radio up (That's where Miranda can help you),the majors will find you. The old saying "Where there is smoke there's fire"
is true and they will come looking for the source of all that "smoke", unfortunately so will 65% of the scam artists.
5.
Avoid ANY type of Bad PR!! One slip and your history if you are new on the scene. No drugs, No Booze (especially Onstage)
dress accordingly wherever you are, and according to your music style.
6. Have someone continuously spread your music
throughout the area (Nashville especially) give away a couple hundred CD's around 16th ave. and Chet Atkins Drive.
7.
DO NOT APPROACH THE MAJORS, let your Music Attorney do so,otherwise your CD or PR Package will probably wind up in the garbage.
When they say NO UNSOLICITED material they mean it. They get thousands a day.
8. Foremost don't ever try to sound like
another Superstar that Nashville already has. The majors will tell you we already have a G. Jones, M.haggard etc...
9.
Distribution Deal is where you put money in an Escrow Account and the label follows the same route except they distribute
your music and if it doen't sell? That money?? You got it they take it, it's to cover them in case they get some music that
does not go over with John Q. Public and the DJ's
Thanks KC
